Getting Started

We've been avid readers of Jean Martin Fortier's (among others) books and instructional materials on Market Gardening. One of the things mentioned was the creation of permanent beds - so we got down to getting those built. We settled on 220 feet beds, 16 altogether to start.

They are 30 inches wide and about 8 inches tall. We got a 30" Seedbed roller from Johnny's Seeds and Bed Preparation Rakes (4" Tine) to do the job. Weed management is still mostly by hand but we did purchase Silage Tarps to get at it in a more planned way. Next up was planting seeds - leaving for the next post.
